Why You need a Glide on your Wand

What is a glide?

A Glide is a device that attaches to the head of a carpet cleaning wand to make the wand work better, and be less tiring to use for the operator as well. It can be made from Teflon, or any other material that will give the required performance characteristics the cleaner is looking for. Some wand glides are designed to fit over the wand's lips, while some are designed to fit within the vacuum slot, either because the wand has no attachable lips, or because the glide works better there. Our Superglides are all precision engineered and produced on CNC machines and compression molds to deliver the operating and performance capabilities most in demand by today's cleaners. They may be made of either virgin Teflon or a filled Teflon composite to deliver the performance you are looking for. If they are not Teflon, they are not Superglides.

What will your Glides do for me?

* Dramatically reduce muscle fatigue by up to 80% or more
* Decrease dry times. Sometimes to as little as an hour .
* Reduce the stress injures that result from pushing a wand.
* Increase customer satisfaction of the service performed.
* Allow you to clean any type of surface you wish.
* Stop damage to baseboards and furniture from happening.
* Eliminate both streaking and wand chattering
* Improve productivity by up to 32% .

What are the benefits of a Superglide and how does it work?

Teflon is our material of choice in our Superglides for one very simple reason: It works the best! It is the most slippery material on Earth. Glides made from it or one of it's composite mixtures slide more easily on the carpet than glides made of any other material. A wand with a Teflon glide on it makes an operators job more comfortable and profitable. Stress from the act of pushing a wand, is considerably reduced so that most injures are eliminated. Many cleaners that had to stop using a wand and switched over to rotary tools, have gone back to wanding once again as a result of our Superglides.

Wanding with a Superglide on your wand will allow you to wand up to 32% faster than before with NO drop off in cleaning quality, and with less energy expended than you are using now. This not only leaves you with more energy at the end of the day, but more money as well. You can use this extra time you have to do more work and make more money, OR use it to finish your work sooner and have more time and energy to spend with family and freinds. Your choice.

The next greatest advantage of the Superglide is the ability to help you deliver Cleaner, DRIER CARPETS to your customers. The rounded shape of the Superglides allow them to ride higher on the carpeted surfaces, and not dig down into the carpet fibers like what happens to wands that rest on thin steel lips like most wands do. That causes a huge loss of potential airflow(CFMS) to be lost to the wand. It is the reason that most wands will flow less than 100 cfms with the wand on the carpet, even when connected to blowers with well over 300 cfms capacity. With the Superglides on the same wands, CFMS often rise above 160 cfms during cleaning. That 60% or greater performance improvement in airflow makes a big difference how much soil and water is left in the carpet. The proper amount of lift(8"HG+) is automatically maintained when the cfms increase this way. The hole design we originated back in 2003 works best to accomplish this. Holes allow a smoother transition into the glide and wand than a slot could provide. The wider 1/4" opening that our Superglides use assures that there will be no jamming of debris in the holes taking place even if no pre-vac is done prior to cleaning.

Why does the carpet dry faster?

The number one thing that determines how fast a carpet dries is how much water is left in it after cleaning. That is determined by how fast the air is being drawn through the carpet fibers as it enters the glide or wand lips .Increase the amount of air entering the wand (CFMS), and you increase the speed of the air entering the wand/glide as well. Most wands take in air at the rate of 5000+ ft/minute without a glide on. Increasing the cfms by 60% more will increase the intake velocity to about 8000+ ft/min. But there is a better way than that. By building a 50% restriction on the glide face with holes that the air must go through, the speed of the air moves up to the 12,000 to 15,000 ft/minute range at the holes. This is much more effective at drawing the water from the carpet. The rounded bottom of the glide reaches to the carpet back to do this more effectively as well.

The Superglides eliminate streaking that can occur with many 4 and 6 jet wands as well. They do this with the Hydro-Glide effect that happens when a jet of water travels down the face of the glide surface, rather than being driven into the carpet's primary backing, where it can take days to dry. Because the greatest heat loss of the water droplets takes place during aeration of the water from the jets, the water transported to the carpet fibers via a side shearing action is actually hotter than the water that travels direct down into the fibers. You can usually turn your water pressure up 200 psi higher when this occurs and still deliver dryer carpets faster to your customers. The higher flows generated also cleans better because of the greater flushing action that higher gpm flows allow.

Do the holes clog with debris on the Superglide?

Almost never now. 18 months ago, when the glides would have holes of 5/32", it could happen if a good pre-vac was not done on the carpet prior to cleaning. Our current Superglides have eliminated this as a problem by going to 1/4" holes now. The 1/4" holes are in most cases now larger in diameter than the 3/16" diameter that most wand makers gap their wand lips at. The larger holes have been shown to dry carpet faster and clean better than even the glides that used to be made with even 3/16" holes, so we made 1/4" our standard size now.

Will the Superglides fit most wands?

Yes! Because we are the originators of this style of glide design, and have made thousands of them, we can tell you that we have designs to fit well over 90% of the wands on the market now, including the hard to fit ones with no lips or that come in funny shapes as well .In March 2005, Turboteck will be bring out a new glide design that only us or our distributors will be able to sell to glide buyers. We will be selling 6 different glide types to fit 98% of the industries glides. Currently, over 50% of all 2 jet wands can be fitted by just our SS802 Superglide alone. Superglide available for these carpet cleaning wands.

Wishing all our customers happy gliding in 2005,

Regards,
